The Fondation Louis Vuitton presents a joint exhibition devoted to Joan Mitchell and Claude Monet

The exhibition Claude Monet - Joan Mitchell begins which a retrospective devoted to the American artist. the public discover this major artist of the 20th century through some fifty or so of her works. The singularity of her paintings is characterized by an intense colour palate.

Then the exhibition offers the visitor an unprecedented dialogue between Joan Mitchell and Claude Monet, two artists who left their mark not only on their own era but also on subsequent generations of artists.

Fascinated by Impressionism, in 1968, Joan Mitchell moved to a property close to that of Claude Monet, in Giverny, whilst affirming her full artistic independence regarding the French master. Both artists’ sensitivity to light and colour is highlighted in striking visual and thematic parallels, through some sixty or so works.
