A fan of watercolours or landscapes? Explore this magnificent retrospective devoted to William Turner

The Jacquemart-André Museum is devoting the time of a few months to a major retrospective of Jospeh Mallord William Turner, the undisputed master of 18th and 19th century English watercolour.

Thanks to exceptional loans from the Tate Britain, which houses the largest collection of the artist's works in the world, the Turner, Paintings and Watercolours exhibition allows us to discover the artist's works, including 60 watercolours as well as 10 paintings, some of which have never been exhibited in France. A great first!

From landscape to landscape, Turner paints nature and lets his talent speak for itself. He sets off to discover Europe (Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the German Rhineland, Italy...) which often takes him to alpine regions or along rivers. He also endeavours to paint England and Wales. Witness of modern industry, he then developed a passion for small and large cities and offers wonderful watercolours showing the changes that took place during this new industrial era. He also stands out with his marine paintings where the British fleet is of course in the foreground, as with his famous painting The Battle of Trafalgar.

An exhibition to discover in Paris from May 26, 2020 to January 11, 2021
