Picasso. Blue and rose, the fruit of a unique collaboration

The Musée d’Orsay and the Musée National Picasso-Paris offer you an exceptional exhibition entirely dedicated to Pablo Picasso’s Blue and Rose periods. Numerous masterpieces have been gathered together to be presented for the first time in France, notably La Vie (Life) (1903), a painting that marked the pinnacle of the artist's Blue Period.

Pablo Picasso from 1900 to 1906

The suicide of his painter friend Carlos Casagemas and his arrival in the rough parts of Paris account for his Blue Period. From 1905, friendly and romantic encounters led to the appearance of warm tones in his paintings heralding the start of his Rose Period.

In the course of your visit, you will discover the young Picasso before Cubism. This focus on these six years of little-known work will help you to appreciate the direction that the painter’s art took.
