The Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac is showing the exhibition Before the Incas - Gods and Kings in Ancient Peru, from 14 November to 1 April 2018

The exhibition transports visitors back into pre-Hispanic Peru, well before the start of the Inca Empire.

It examines the organization of these ancient Andean societies (Chimú, Mochica, Cupisnique, Lambayeque …) that more than 1,500 years ago, laid the foundations for the powerful Inca civilization.

Visitors are given a valuable insight into the representation of political and religious power in these forgotten pre-Hispanic societies through some 300 unique items (ceramics, jewellery and ceremonial objects) from archaeological excavations on the north coast of Peru.
